Quaternary science reviews vol.147 Pages 1-434 (1 September 2016)

This special issue relates to the 2nd International Conference of the PAST Gateways (Palaeo-Arctic Spatial and Temporal Gateways). It contains 25 papers on four main themes: (1) The growth and decay of Arctic ice sheets; (2) Arctic sea ice and palaeoceanography; (3) Terrestrial Arctic environments and permafrost change; and (4) Holocene Arctic environmental change. Geographically the focus is circum-Arctic; the there are detailed regional studies from Greenland, Scandinavia, Russia, and Arctic North America and the adjoining seas, as well as review papers on Fennoscandian Ice Sheet deglaciation and Holocene Arctic palaeo-climate change.
International journal of earth sciences vol.105 issue 7 Pages 1879-2173 (October 2016)

The 15 papers in this topical issue shed some more light on the tectonic history of the Eastern Mediterranean, and cover processes that took place in Aegean and Anatolian domains from the Neoproterozoic to the present. The idea for this issue was born during a session entitled “The Evolution of the Alpine Orogenic System in the Eastern Mediterranean.” at the GeoFrankfurt2014 conference. The papers were written by structural geologists, sedimentologists, petrologists, geochemists, geophysicists and seismologists.
Journal of African earth sciences vol.122 Pages 1-106 (October 2016)

This special issue contains some of the contributions presented at the 3rd Young Earth Scientists Congress. This meeting was developed in conjunction with the 25th Colloquium of African Geology (CAG25). Topics covered include: hydrogeology and groundwater resources, water resources management, renewable energy resources and related policies, regional geology and tectonics, palaeontology, land management, aspects of climate change/variability, anthropogenic impacts on environment, remote sensing and geographic information systems applications in the earth sciences.
Quaternary international vol.416 Pages 1-262 (19 September 2016)

This volume presents a selection of papers based on presentations delivered in the session "Southeast Asia: Human Evolution, Dispersals and Adaptation" at the 37th UISPP Congress in Burgos, Spain in 2014. It includes results of both completed and on-going research projects, as well as preliminary studies and discussions of research questions to be addressed in the future. This collection is comprised of papers on various fields of study covering a large chronological span in order to give a quick overview of the research questions currently addressed by international research teams working in Southeast Asia.
Quaternary international vol.415 Pages 1-356 (10 September 2016)

The research articles published in this volume reflect the contributions presented at the CBW2014 conference in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) in November 2014. This conference featured lectures providing state-of-the-art overviews, open debates and round-table discussions on a wide range of topics related to regional climate dynamics of Central Eastern Europe during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene.
Journal of geodynamics vol.100 Pages 1-214 (October 2016)

Thirteen papers which gather review works and recent studies on analogue and numerical modelling of tectonic and geodynamic processes, as an opportunity to present some of the milestones and recent breakthroughs in this field, to discuss potential issues and to highlight possible future developments.
Tectonophysics vol.684 Pages 1-176 (2 August 2016)
Athens login required.
This special issue contains 13 contributions derived from the GeoMod2014 conference. This conference reviewed and discussed the latest developments in analogue and numerical modelling of lithospheric and mantle deformation. Papers in this volume are organized in 3 sections: methodological developments, numerical modelling, and analogue modelling.
Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology vol.460 Pages 1-178 (15 October 2016)

This special issue aims to improve understanding of the Fezouata Shale in Morocco and its exceptionally preserved biota. Using palaeontological data from various groups, complemented by sedimentological data, this collection of contributions provides a more detailed picture of the biostratigraphical, palaeoecological, palaeogeographic, and palaeoenvironmental contexts associated with the deposition of this unique Lower Ordovician Lagerstätte and the preservation of its remarkable biota than hitherto available.

This theme issue contains papers representing the initial results from INQUA Project 0704: A Digital Atlas of Quaternary Dune fields and Sand Seas. The INQUA dunes atlas project was envisaged as a vehicle for documenting in digital form the distribution, characteristics, history, and boundary conditions of dune fields and sand seas worldwide. The first part of the project, reported in this issue, concentrated on the compilation of a digital database of chronologic information on periods of aeolian accumulation and stability from as many areas as possible, mainly based on luminescence dating studies.

The purpose of this study was to summarize and systematize the data collected during the long-term studies of postmagmatic phenomena in 20 boreholes drilled in the Żarki-Kotowice area, particularly taking into account the new and relatively deep borehole ZW-1 (800.3 m). The description of the manifestations of ore mineralization was presented against the background of the zonation of thermal-metasomatic alterations observed in this area, based on microscopic investigations and detailed studies in the electron microprobe. The results of these studies along with data from other boreholes enabled the first recognition of the mineral succession in the Zarki-Kotowice area, and comparison of the mineral association of this area with the others. There is an English language summary at the end of the volume.
