Elementary Geology Sheets
New to the Library's popular map sale is a series of three illustrated plates entitled 'Geologische Elementarkarte' (1838), taken from the Archives. The three sheets, intended to be viewed together, show a continuous section through the Earth's crust illustrating stratified rocks and their relation with each other together with fossils and other artifacts that might be found in various geological periods. The images appear to be have be taken without acknowledgement from William Buckland's "Bridgewater Treatise"...
