Library Users Group

Terms of reference

The Library Users Group is a Reporting Committee of the Publications and Information Committee.

  • Advises on:
    • potential new Library initiatives
    • the development and promotion of the Library’s collections
    • the development of e-resources
    • the information needs of on-site and remote Library users.
  • Oversees the effective communication of Library policy and initiatives to Library users.

Aims

  • To act as a user group.
  • To support the development of Library services and public engagement activities.
  • To encourage the conservation and preservation of the archive, map and historical collections.

Structure

Chair

  • Appointed by PIC for three years.

Membership

  • Members of LUG will be appointed by PIC
  • Members will normally be appointed for a period of three years, with any variance agreed by the Chair.

Staff attendance

  • Library and Information Services Manager
  • Director of Publishing, Library and Information Services.

Secretariat

  • To be provided by the Library and Information Services Manager.

Method of working

  • There will be three meetings of LUG each year.
  • Meetings will be held in advance of Publications and Information Committee meetings, allowing sufficient time for the inclusion of draft LUG minutes in PIC papers.
  • Meetings will normally be in-person, in Burlington House, but may on occasion be conducted by telephone.
  • Between meetings normal business will be conducted by email.
